The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our ever growing team at Harwich International Port as a Maintenance Operative. 

The suitable applicant will have construction experience within a building or civil engineering environment and will be required to carry out repairs and maintenance to Port infrastructure (minor repairs to roads, paved areas, services, fencing and winter maintenance etc.).

This position will be a 39-hour week (Monday – Friday) and may involve out of hours and weekend working.  Qualifications in a relevant trade would be an advantage.

Key Requirements

  • Repair and maintenance works to Port buildings, structures and infrastructure
  • Emergency repairs and maintenance both inside and outside of normal working hours
  • Following suitable training, operate company plant and equipment as necessary
  • Ensure compliance to all company policies, procedures, standard operating practices, with recommendations for action and improvement.

Who are we looking for?

Suitable applicants will have:

  • Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK
  • Aged 18 or over. 
  • Able to work independently and unsupervised. 
  • General construction/building related experience.
