9051 nGen Branch Amalgamation Testers

Following the implementation of nGen a number of changes were identified in Felixstowe to enhance system performance and in line with other changes, these have been passed to the development teams. As a result a new ‘Branch’ version of nGen (v12.10) is currently being developed to align all HPH Container Terminals using the IV (International Version) of nGen.

The ‘Branch’ will be amalgamated with the current version of nGen in use at Felixstowe.

To reduce the risks associated with implementing v12.10, a major testing effort is required to ensure that our operations are not adversely affected. All system changes need to be tested alongside existing processes to provide confidence that Terminal Services will be maintained.

The scale of testing is comparable to go-live and therefore requires significant resources to be deployed from the Operations team to achieve PoF and HPH goals.

By creating this team, testing can be streamlined more efficiently to combine Systems Integration Testing with User Acceptance Testing and testing can be set-up to ensure both operational process and technical messaging work as expected. Active involvement in testing activities also provides the opportunity for the Container Division operations team to have input into establishing that the latest system version is ready for release into the production environment.
